Why are your masks such a high standard?
Why do I need an N99 mask to protect myself from Covid19?
What does N99 mean?
N99 means that the material used in the mask/face covering has been laboratory tested and proven to filter out 99% of airborne particles or more. The term N99 is the rating/designator given to material that passes these tests. In the case of coronavirus this is very important as the higher the N number, the less likely the virus will be able to pass through the mask/face covering. Coronavirus can be as small as 0.1 micron in size, so it's important to wear a mask that has the right rating/designator - for coronavirus it's N99.
Do I need to change the filter?
Both Cambridge Mask and Respilon face masks have sewn-in filters, so when it's eventually time to replace the filter, you just replace the entire mask. The masks are long-lasting and designed to be worn many times over - they are reusable and washable, and the high-quality filters are sewn into the masks. This prevents filters from being incorrectly installed, and ensures that seepage does not occur as a result of incorrect filter placement. Please read the details on each mask product-page for washing and care instructions. Your mask has the potential to last many months.
